Attended the CPR and First Aid Course today at Joondalup. Our instructor was Annemarie. I was really impressed with... the session having done a few courses in the past. Annemarie had excellent communication, had clearly a lot of experience and was very engaging. She interspersed the theory and practical with relevant anecdotes keeping everything interesting. She took the time to interact with each participant but managed to move the session along at a good pace so that it ran on time. Would highly recommendl.read more

I booked a course for next week a couple of days ago. The lady on the phone said she would send me a confirmation email... with the invoice and the details of the course/booking with the details of the online test that I need to complete before attending the class. However, I have not received anything from them and I can't get a hold of them. The number on their website that I initially called is going to messagbank and saying their voicemail is full and I have had no response from the email I sent them. I even went to the location and the reception at Quest couldn't do anything but forward my details onto them. So basically they took my $129 and have vanished. I am left with no choice but to put a dispute on with my bank in hopes that they will then respond to me.Extremely frustrated.read more

Spent over an hour last night trying to do their module which is mandatory before you do the course but a technical... issue wasn't allowing me to get in the system. I tried calling the next day in the morning to resolve this issue but there was no one picking up the phone from that end. I was on the phone for a good 20mins before I hung up. I showed up at the course but because I didn't do the online one, I was turned away. I left Joondalup to Banksia Grove still on the phone at home until 40mins later - someone answered the phone. They told me that it's not refundable. I'm going ahead with my bank to get my money back. This business is a rort!read more

Types of first aid

First aid is a set of first responses appropriate for a range of medical emergency situations.

In Australia, these different types of medical responses are catalogued by the National Register of Vocational and Education Training as units of competencies. By achieving these competencies, you earn a Statement of Attainment.

At Australia Wide First Aid Joondalup, our most popular course is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, which bundles together 2 other units: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.

Provide CPR can be studied as a standalone unit. It’s important to renew this particular certification annually.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a more comprehensive course designed to prepare you for medical hazards and emergencies that occur often in workplaces as well as in everyday situations. It includes how to use first aid kits in emergency and non-emergency settings.

Australia Wide First Aid courses

Australia Wide First Aid provides short courses designed for individuals and groups to gain nationally accredited certification. These courses include:

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as taught in our first aid course: Provide CPR

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Learn the proper application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Your technique will be fine-tuned in face-to-face training that follows streamlined e-Learning you can complete at your convenience.

You'll learn the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, to manage and assess an emergency situation, and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The First Aider's legal responsibilities will be discussed. You'll also learn the all-important DRSABCD first aid strategy.

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 2.5 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 2 hours in a classroom environment.

Your nationally recognised CPR certification — emailed to you the same day as course completion – officially recognises your ability to respond effectively to cardiac and breathing-related emergencies.

Don’t hesitate to enrol in this course and find out how good it feels to have the skills to save lives.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

By far our most popular course, Provide First Aid is a requirement for workplace first aid compliance.

Previously known as Apply First Aid and Senior First Aid, this course includes 4 jam-packed hours of face-to-face training, preceded by highly informative e-Learning that has been streamlined for accelerated certification.

This course covers the skills and knowledge involved in providing a first aid response as well as how to provide life support.

You'll learn first aid management of casualty(ies), the incident and other first aiders, until qualified emergency help arrives to take over.

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 6 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 4 hours in a classroom environment.

Your certificate — HLTAID011 Provide First Aid PDF Statement of Attainment – will be emailed to you the same day you complete your course.

Current industry standards recommend renewing this certification every 3 years with the CPR component due for renewal every 12 months.

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

This is the ideal course for parents of young children, as well as those interested in working in the care or education sectors.

With its focus on first aid for infants and children, this course also covers first aid management of medical conditions and injuries of all types.

You’ll learn to properly assess emergency situations, in addition to CPR techniques that apply to infants, children, and adults.

The course covers the knowledge and skills required to respond to first aid emergencies, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

The training is in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training requirements defined by Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 6 hours for reading and e-Learning. You’ll gain further valuable information in 5 hours of streamlined face-to-face training and assessment in a classroom environment.

Students are unanimous in saying this fascinating session is empowering and a highly enjoyable way to gain certification in Child Care First Aid.

Current industry standards recommend renewing this certification every 3 years, with the CPR component due for renewal every 12 months.
