I recently participated in a first aid and cpr course with this company. The email communication was very clear and... concise. I knew what I had to do, and what was expected of me. Shout out to Roger, who was very friendly and engaging, making the theory aspects of the course surprisingly informative and enjoyable. He did everything he could to ensure we were able to successfully complete the required assessments. He had a great sense of humour! For what most people have previously experienced or have preconceived ideas around what a half day first aid training would look like, this is NOT that! For sure, I'll be back to renew with you guys! Great value for money!read more

I booked with this company again for a refresher course as I had a great experience 3 years ago and thought that would... be the standard that AWFA provides. Not so this time. The value in going to a face to face session is focussing on practical skills and knowledge. I acknowledge that Covid restrictions may have changed how content is delivered, but to spend 3hours 45 min listening to anecdotes and about 15 min total in hands on wasnt what I paid for. I would be really angry if I had paid for this course as a first timer, instead of a refresher, as the basic first aid for asthma, allergy, wound care was glossed over in 2mins, with the assumption we all knew it anyway. If you pay and turn up for a course, then it is the trainers job to respect that and deliver the relevant information that was the intent of the course.read more

What a poor customer experience.I had selected this first aid provider because they runs courses that suits my busy... schedule.Today I went to refresh my CPR. Upon arrival I was embarrassingly turned away for not completing the pre course work. I had not received any emails from the organisation before my booked class and was therefore unable to do this. I was then directed to call the customer service line and told the operator on the other line my circumstances.I was offered a rebooking for the next day however due to my work schedule I would not be able to accept. I tried explaining this to the customer service operator. The operator then affirmed the providers inflexibility to individuals on a case by case circumstances. I asked about refund options again the operator refused this request and stated that I would need to rebook.I found this whole process humiliating and am disappointed by Australia Wide First Aid’s lack of empathy and inflexibility. I would not recommend this RTO to anyone.read more

I have completed first aid 3 times in the last 10 years and CPR 8 times in that period...This is by far the most... outrageous fail of a course. I have to say very poorly run institution. My experience with the teachers was good but their customer service and... admin services are a shambles. I was originally booked in for an Express First Aid course and it was cancelled on the morning of the course with no replacement teacher. This was annoying as the Express courses are only run once per month. I tried to book in multiple times and they said I could not. Finally I organised a full day course as you can only do the express within 12 months of the last but when I showed up I was not on the list and the teacher said he could not let me in the class. I showed him the email from Australia Wide First Aid which said that I was booked but the message had not been transferred to the teacher. The teacher was helpful and tried to call his director but there was no answer so I could not do the class even though I had paid for it. I am wondering g if anyone is actually going to follow up on this now or am I just another number. After initially being happy with the quality of their courses I now have to choose a different provider as I cannot rely on this company’s administration. I demand a refund also as that is 3 times I have not been able to do your course. Please improve the communication systems.read more

HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid

Also known as Level 2 First Aid or Senior First Aid, this course is soon to be re-coded as HLTAID011. You’d need to dive deep into the detail about the use of each and every item in a quality First Aid kit to describe the comprehensive scope of the Provide First Aid course. It’s our most popular course and a staple for workplace compliance.

HLTAID001 – Provide CPR

CPR is a life-saver for victims of cardiac arrest or oxygen deprivation. This course is part of Provide First Aid HLTAID003 and Emergency First Aid HLTAID004. Not to be confused with Level 1 First Aid (HLTAID002 Basic Emergency Life Support), this is a standalone course focused on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation technique. Refresher courses are designed for the annual renewal of Provide CPR certification.

HLTAID004 – Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting (Child Care First Aid)

This course is a career requirement for people planning to work in the childcare and education sectors. Also known as Child Care First Aid, it focuses on First Aid as applied to children and infants. This course is a compelling choice for parents.

Basic Course Differences

While Provide CPR (HLTAID001) puts essental life-saving skills within your reach in short time, both Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and Child Care First Aid (HLTAID004) are more comprehensive First Aid courses.

Combining more advanced First Aid, including CPR, these two courses encompass more e-Learning and a half-day of face-to-face training.  Both courses are ideal for career advancement.

What Is First Aid?

First Aid is all about providing immediate assistance to a sick or injured person until professional medical help becomes available. It aims to prevent the patient’s conditioning worsening and can ultimately save lives.

First Aid can be as simple as dressing minor wounds or helping a person who is experiencing an asthma attack. It could also involve more advanced First Aid procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

First Aid attention also provides the means to reassure a distressed casualty, until professional medical personnel arrive. The importance of this reassurance cannot be overstated.

Types of First Aid

First Aid courses target specific knowledge and skill sets that apply in different circumstances.

Our most popular course — Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) — satisfies Australian workplace compliance. This course incorporates HLTAID002 Basic Emergency Life Support, as well as HLTAID001 Provide CPR, which focuses on the life-saving techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

All our accredited First Aid courses are fully compliant and will teach you the techniques of First Aid professionals.
