HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, manage and assess an emergency situation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), understand DRSABCD and the First Aider's legal responsibilities. Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

|Duration:||This is a blended course with self-paced online learning (e-Learning) and face-to-face training. Before attending the face to face training, students will need to complete their e-Learning which can be done in one sitting or over several sessions. Depending on the student's learning ability, they should allow up to 2.5 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 2 hours in a classroom environment.|

Course Content HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
This course covers skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Recognise and assess an emergency situation
- Ensure safety for self, bystanders and casualty
- Assess the casualty and recognise the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Seek assistance from emergency services
- Perform CPR in accordance with the ARC guidelines
- Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
- Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturers' instructions
- Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
- Report details of incident in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies
- Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required
- Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required
CPR Certificate Issued
You will receive a PDF Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation emailed to you the same day after successful completion of your training and assessment.
Safe Work Australia recommends renewing CPR certification every 12 months. This is simply a matter of doing a refresher course with a Registered Training Organisation.

Who Can Attend?
This course is for students with existing First Aid experience or for those who are new to First Aid and comfortable learning in a blended delivery setting.
Factors to Consider
Students attending course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.

- Download your First Aid eBook. Read the pages detailed in your Welcome email.
- Refer to your eBook to answer questions in your e-Learning assignment.
- Submit your finished assignment by 11.59pm the day before of your scheduled face-to-face training.
- CPR assessment requires you to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR while kneeling on the floor. You are welcome to bring a towel or cushion for your knees.
