All About Our First Aid Courses

First Aid refers to a set of first responses to a range of medical emergencies.

In Australia, these responses are catalogued by the National Register of Vocational and Education Training as units of competency. Qualification is by way of Statements of Attainment in these competencies.

At Australia Wide First Aid, we provide courses to cover these units of competency. We have a course for CPR Only, which has the code HLTAID001.

Our most popular course — Provide First Aid — bundles together 3 of these units: HLTAID001, HLTAID002, and HLTAID003.

HLTAID001 – Provide CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

is a standalone course, as well as a core unit of competency in the popular Provide First Aid HLTAID003 course.

Provide CPR HLTAID001 covers the theory and practice needed to provide an immediate response to a breathing or cardiac emergency.

CPR technique combines chest compressions and artificial ventilation to return the flow of oxygenated blood to major organs when a person’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped.

When you’re trained in the use of this lifesaving procedure, you’ll be capable of potentially preventing a casualty from dying or suffering permanent brain damage due to oxygen deprivation.

Why Learning First Aid is Invaluable

First Aid knowledge is invaluable in times of a medical emergency.

You only need to imagine being powerless to help in the event someone close to you falls victim to a life-threatening accident, or collapses from a stroke or a heart attack, to understand the value of First Aid training.

Being able to help in such circumstances, is what First Aid is all about. No one who signs up to do an accredited First Aid course, regrets doing so.

First Aid training will have a positive effect on you, as well as on your family and your colleagues. Knowing what to do in an emergency is reassuring for everyone.

A First Aid certificate is also a boost for your career. You’re chances of getting the job you’re after will improve because you’ve demonstrated your willingness to take responsibility. And prospective employers will see this.

First Aid certification also adds Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, which count toward career advancement in many industries.

The Sunshine Coast Community

On the Sunshine Coast, the Great Outdoors could not be more enticing. The Sunny Coast has something for everyone — from the golden beaches to the rustic beauty of the hinterland, to the beautique shops and cafés at Noosa, Maroochydore and Mooloolaba.

But accidents do happen — anywhere, anytime.

All too frequently, people get into bother in the surf and in the pool. Not just visitors. Locals too.

There are stingers, in the water and out. People fall victim to heat stroke. They fall off bikes and get into all sorts of scrapes.

Life-saving First Aid is how you can help make the Sunshine Coast a safer place. And your First Aid certificate is way to show your community spirit.
