Shout out to Roger, who was very friendly and engaging, making the theory aspects of the course surprisingly informative and enjoyable. I booked with this company again for a refresher course as I had a great experience 3 years ago and thought that would... be the standard that AWFA provides. Not so this time. The value in going to a face to face session is focussing on practical skills and knowledge. I acknowledge that Covid restrictions may have changed how content is delivered, but to spend 3hours 45 min listening to anecdotes and about 15 min total in hands on wasnt what I paid for. I would be really angry if I had paid for this course as a first timer, instead of a refresher, as the basic first aid for asthma, allergy, wound care was glossed over in 2mins, with the assumption we all knew it anyway. If you pay and turn up for a course, then it is the trainers job to respect that and deliver the relevant information that was the intent of the course.read more

What a poor customer experience.I had selected this first aid provider because they runs courses that suits my busy... schedule.Today I went to refresh my CPR. Upon arrival I was embarrassingly turned away for not completing the pre course work. I had not received any emails from the organisation before my booked class and was therefore unable to do this. I was then directed to call the customer service line and told the operator on the other line my circumstances.I was offered a rebooking for the next day however due to my work schedule I would not be able to accept. I tried explaining this to the customer service operator. The operator then affirmed the providers inflexibility to individuals on a case by case circumstances. I asked about refund options again the operator refused this request and stated that I would need to rebook.I found this whole process humiliating and am disappointed by Australia Wide First Aid’s lack of empathy and inflexibility. I would not recommend this RTO to anyone.read more

I have to say very poorly run institution. My experience with the teachers was good but their customer service and... admin services are a shambles. I was originally booked in for an Express First Aid course and it was cancelled on the morning of the course with no replacement teacher. This was annoying as the Express courses are only run once per month. I tried to book in multiple times and they said I could not. Finally I organised a full day course as you can only do the express within 12 months of the last but when I showed up I was not on the list and the teacher said he could not let me in the class. I showed him the email from Australia Wide First Aid which said that I was booked but the message had not been transferred to the teacher. The teacher was helpful and tried to call his director but there was no answer so I could not do the class even though I had paid for it. I am wondering g if anyone is actually going to follow up on this now or am I just another number. After initially being happy with the quality of their courses I now have to choose a different provider as I cannot rely on this company’s administration. I demand a refund also as that is 3 times I have not been able to do your course. Please improve the communication systems.read more

Short Courses – Melbourne Training

Introduction

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation puts essential life-saving skills within your reach in short time. This is easy to complete in one day.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting are more comprehensive first aid courses.

While you can complete either of these courses in one day, half a day would be spent in face-to-face training and assessment. Before doing that, your e-Learning would need to be completed. How long that takes you will come down to your own ability to get through some reading and a multiple-choice quiz.

Certification in these two courses is ideal for career advancement.

These courses include the previously mentioned HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, as well as essential first aid knowledge and skills, not the least of which are first aid for anaphylaxis, and management of asthma and many other medical emergencies.

Course Overviews

Provide CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a life-saver for victims of cardiac arrest and oxygen deprivation.

This course should not to be confused with Level 1 First Aid (HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support), which is part of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting.

Assessment for your certification will require you to demonstrate correct CPR technique for no less than two minutes, on a manikin placed on the floor. You may bring a towel or cushion for your knees.

Provide First Aid

Our most popular course, this training is a staple for workplace compliance. The Provide First Aid course includes both HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support (Level 1 First Aid).

Child Care First Aid

This is the course you want if you’re planning to work in the childcare or education sectors. The included first aid techniques and knowledge are focused on infants and children, not just on adults, making this training a compelling choice for parents.

Workplace First Aid Melbourne Business Owners

If you’re in business in Melbourne, Group First Aid training can be done right there at your premises.

This is great for staff training and, importantly, this onsite first aid training can be tailored to suit the health and safety concerns of your workplace.

It’s ideal for taking care of your workplace first aid compliance and makes it easier for you to manage the first aid training for your people and, being conducted onsite, means less disruption to their schedules.

For further advice about any aspect of this occupational first aid, please don’t hesitate to call us.

Your First Aid Trainer in Melbourne

First Aid Trainer, Roger

Roger is no stranger to danger, as you can see from his hi-viz outfit in the photo.

He will be more suitably dressed, no doubt, when he greets you at your first aid class. But you can be sure he'll have plenty of real-world tales to tell.

When he's not sharing his vast experience with our first aid students, Roger is usually out in the field — devising strategies to manage potential emergencies at sites that face serious risks from fire, chemical, electrical, and other hazards.

Roger is not only skilled and experienced when it comes to emergencies in the workplace, he's also a certified snake handler.

Whether he's showing you how to perform CPR on a mannikin, discussing asthma risks and emergencies, or explaining first aid management of anaphylaxis, your first aid training with Roger is certain to be interesting, enjoyable, and memorable.

Australia Wide First Aid courses

Australia Wide First Aid provides short courses designed for individuals and groups to gain nationally accredited certification. These courses include:

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as taught in our first aid course: Provide CPR

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Learn the proper application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Your technique will be fine-tuned in face-to-face training that follows streamlined e-Learning you can complete at your convenience.

You'll learn the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, to manage and assess an emergency situation, and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The First Aider's legal responsibilities will be discussed. You'll also learn the all-important DRSABCD first aid strategy.

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 2.5 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 2 hours in a classroom environment.

Your nationally recognised CPR certification — emailed to you the same day as course completion – officially recognises your ability to respond effectively to cardiac and breathing-related emergencies.

Don’t hesitate to enrol in this course and find out how good it feels to have the skills to save lives.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

By far our most popular course, Provide First Aid is a requirement for workplace first aid compliance.

Previously known as Apply First Aid and Senior First Aid, this course includes 4 jam-packed hours of face-to-face training, preceded by highly informative e-Learning that has been streamlined for accelerated certification.

This course covers the skills and knowledge involved in providing a first aid response as well as how to provide life support.

You'll learn first aid management of casualty(ies), the incident and other first aiders, until qualified emergency help arrives to take over.

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 6 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 4 hours in a classroom environment.

Your certificate — HLTAID011 Provide First Aid PDF Statement of Attainment – will be emailed to you the same day you complete your course.

Current industry standards recommend renewing this certification every 3 years with the CPR component due for renewal every 12 months.

Woman attending to a man's injured ankle – bandaging techniques taught in Provide First Aid course
After your Australia Wide First Aid course, you'll be able to bandage injuries like this child has suffered to her arm

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

This is the ideal course for parents of young children, as well as those interested in working in the care or education sectors.

With its focus on first aid for infants and children, this course also covers first aid management of medical conditions and injuries of all types.

You’ll learn to properly assess emergency situations, in addition to CPR techniques that apply to infants, children, and adults.

The course covers the knowledge and skills required to respond to first aid emergencies, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

The training is in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training requirements defined by Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Depending on your learning ability, you should allow up to 6 hours for reading and e-Learning. You’ll gain further valuable information in 5 hours of streamlined face-to-face training and assessment in a classroom environment.

Students are unanimous in saying this fascinating session is empowering and a highly enjoyable way to gain certification in Child Care First Aid.

Current industry standards recommend renewing this certification every 3 years, with the CPR component due for renewal every 12 months.
