How Long Does a First Aid Course Take?
Our courses include face-to-face learning — 2 hours for HTLAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation; 4 hours for HTLAID003 Provide first aid; and 5 hours for HTLAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
You’d first need to complete an e-Learning component. But this is done online, at your convenience, and prior to your face-to-face practical training at our Sydney training centre.

First Aid Course Admission Requirements
To attend a First Aid course with Australia Wide First Aid, you must be at least 14 years of age.
For cardiopulmonary resuscitation assessment, you would need to be physically capable of carrying out 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR while kneeling on the floor (you can, if you wish, bring a cushion or towel).

- Download your First Aid manual eBook and read the passages relevant to your course, as instructed in your Welcome email.
- Answer the questions in your e-Learning assignment, referring freely to your eBook. Submit your finished assignment by 11.59pm AEST prior to the day of your face-to-face training.
- You’ll need to be physically capable of kneeling on the floor to perform CPR uninterrupted for at least 2 minutes. Bring a cushion or towel if you need.

NOTE: Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to course commencement. This allows for everyone to be seated and accounted for. Respecting the busy schedules of all those in attendance, late arrivals cannot always be admitted.

CPR is an emergency response technique that combines chest compressions and artificial ventilation. It can return the flow of oxygenated blood to major organs after a person’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped.
The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends this certification be renewed annually to stay abreast of changes and to keep skills fresh.
Our most popular course, the comprehensive scope of this training makes it particularly relevant to community and workplace settings.
In Provide First Aid, you learn CPR, use of an AED (automatic external defibrillator), management of airway obstruction, choking, and vomiting, as well as care for an unconscious breathing casualty.
You’ll also learn First Aid techniques, such as managing fractures, strains and sprains, treating bites and stings, the pressure immobilisation technique (PIT), and more.
The course also covers how to provide an appropriate emergency response for allergy and anaphylaxis, asthma and respiratory distress, control of bleeding, and shock management.
Includes the following Units of Competency: HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support, HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
This Emergency First Aid course is a requirement if you intend to work in the childcare sector. It’s also of particular interest to parents of young children.
Covering the same units as Provide CPR and Provide First Aid, this course adds a focus on applying First Aid, including CPR techniques, to infants and children.
With a total face-to-face training duration of 5 hours, plus pre-course reading and online assessment, this course teaches how to provide First Aid for various types of injuries and manage medical conditions, as well as how to assess emergency situations.
