HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
course covers theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to provide CPR, manage and assess an emergency situation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), understand DRSABCD and the first aider's legal responsibilities. Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Mode of Delivery: e-Learning plus face-to-face classroom training and assessment
Duration: This is a blended course with self-paced online learning (e-Learning) and face-to-face training. Before attending the face to face training, students will need to complete their e-Learning which can be done in one sitting or over several sessions. Depending on the student's learning ability, they should allow up to 2.5 hours for reading and e-Learning. Face-to-face training and assessment takes 2 hours in a classroom environment.
Assessment: Written, practical and scenario-based assessment
Age Requirement: Minimum age is 14 Years
Certificate Valid: 12 months from date of course completion
Annual renewal of CPR certification is recommended

Course Content HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

HLTAID001 presents you with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognise an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and other
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for CPR
  • Seek assistance from emergency response service
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with ARC guidelines
  • Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies

CPR Certificate Issued

You will receive a PDF Statement of Attainment in HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation emailed to you the same day after successful completion of your training and assessment.

Safe Work Australia recommends renewing CPR certification every 12 months. This is simply a matter of doing a refresher course with a Registered Training Organisation.

Who Can Attend?

This course is for those with existing First Aid experience or for Students who are new to First Aid and comfortable learning in a blended delivery setting.

Factors to Consider

Students attending course will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor, to meet the performance criteria for assessment.
